Account & setup

Professional selling plan and a resale certificate / sales tax permit where required (check your state)
Separate business bank account and card
Confirm which categories and brands are gated for your account in Seller Central

Finding brands & suppliers

List brands already selling well on Amazon that you can buy direct or from authorized distributors
Use a brand/seller database such as SmartScout to shortlist brands
Prepare a short pitch: your business, how you protect MAP pricing and listing quality
Request price lists, minimum order quantities and payment terms

Vetting each product

Check sales rank history and number of FBA offers (e.g. with Keepa)
Check whether Amazon itself sells the item
Calculate profit after all fees with the FBA profit calculator

Confirm you can get an invoice that meets Amazon's ungating/authenticity needs
Check for IP complaints or brand restrictions

Ordering & prep

Start with a small test order
Confirm case packs, labels and prep (or use a prep center)

Keep all supplier invoices organized for at least several years
Review profit per SKU monthly
